A friend of mine bought Smile or Die and says she is going to lend it to all her friends. Embarrassingly, I bought into a lot of this stuff not that long ago.
I don’t blame you – it’s a pretty beguiling myth that we can control our circumstances by controlling our thoughts. It’s even (sorta kinda) true in some ways, just not the way “the Secret” (or the corporate culture of “positive thinking”) make it sound. It’s understandable that a fellow like yourself (or me) who experiences intense synchronicity over long periods of time might get hooked on “the law of attraction” as a possible explanation, but it doesn’t satisfy me. I’m happy to let that stuff stay mysterious.
