By the way, Alceste, I just noticed your blog has a Google page rank of 4 on an 11 point scale of 0 to 10. That’s pretty good for a blog. It means your blog will turn up reasonably high — all else equal — in Google searches. A PR4 is pretty good, a PR5 is great, a PR6 is excellent, and a PR7 is rare and exalted. Eight, nine and ten are all but impossible.

Hi, Paul – I’m glad I’m well ranked. Thanks for telling me. I don’t know what that means, but I’m thankful somebody’s reading all this rubbish. I get a few hits from Stumbleupon, which impresses me – stumbling is my favorite pastime. (Although I’ve never stumbled on myself).

Some of the effects of a high Google page rank take time to show up. For instance, you might notice that a year down the road some of your old articles are surprisingly popular, drawing new readers to them every day.
